About River North

River North is a neighborhood within the Near North Side community area, located immediately north of the Chicago River and west of Michigan Avenue. The area has transformed from a warehouse and industrial district into one of Chicago's premier neighborhoods for dining, nightlife, galleries, and high-rise residential living. River North's architecture includes converted industrial loft buildings, Marina City's iconic corn-cob towers, the massive Merchandise Mart, and a growing number of residential and hotel high-rises. The neighborhood's commercial corridors along Hubbard Street, Erie Street, and Grand Avenue support a dense concentration of restaurants and bars. The Chicago Riverwalk along its southern edge has become a major public amenity.
