Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
1. Information We Collect
CivicScout collects information you provide directly (email address, name) when you create an account. We also collect usage data including search queries (addresses), pages visited, and browser type to improve our service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to provide location intelligence reports, send weekly monitoring email updates you opt into, process payments, and improve CivicScout. We do not sell your personal information. We do share limited usage data with the analytics and advertising providers described in sections 4 and 5, which some privacy laws treat as “sharing.” You can opt out at any time using the choices in section 5 or by emailing us.
3. Data Sources
CivicScout aggregates publicly available data from municipal open data portals, including building permits, crime reports, traffic crashes, and zoning records. This data is already public record.
4. Third-Party Services
We use Supabase for authentication and data storage, Stripe for payment processing, Mapbox for map imagery, Vercel for hosting, and Resend for email delivery. We also use Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics to understand how CivicScout is used, and the Meta (Facebook) pixel to measure the effectiveness of our advertising. Each service has its own privacy policy.
5. Cookies & Advertising
CivicScout uses cookies for authentication and analytics. Our analytics and advertising tools (Google Analytics and the Meta pixel) set their own cookies and receive information about your visit — such as the pages you view and your browser — which Meta may associate with your Meta account as described in its privacy policy. To opt out of Meta using this data for ads, visit Meta Ad Preferences, or opt out of interest-based advertising generally at aboutads.info. You can also block these tools with browser settings or extensions without affecting core CivicScout functionality, or email us to opt out of sharing.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from the dashboard settings. This permanently removes your account data, saved reports, and monitored addresses. Cached public data (permits, reports) may persist in our cache for up to 7 days.
