About McKinley Park

McKinley Park is a community area on Chicago's Southwest Side, bounded by the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) to the north, Pershing Road (39th Street) to the south, the South Branch of the Chicago River to the east, and Western Avenue to the west. The neighborhood takes its name from McKinley Park, a well-maintained green space with a lagoon, fieldhouse, and swimming pool at the center of the community.

McKinley Park has evolved from an Irish and Polish working-class neighborhood into a diverse community with significant Mexican, Chinese, and Eastern European populations. Its housing stock consists of brick bungalows, two-flats, and workers' cottages. The neighborhood has seen growing interest from homebuyers attracted by its affordable housing stock, strong community identity, and proximity to Bridgeport and the 35th/Archer Orange Line station.
