Northclift Crime Map & Reported Offense Data

Crimes cover the Northclift neighborhood (the boundary outlined on the map), over the last 12 months. Crime is compared per resident (rate), so a large, busy area can have a high total but a lower rate; crash counts are compared to the average Raleigh neighborhood. Source: City of Raleigh open data and Wake County. RPD places incidents on the block’s street, so incidents on a boundary street sit on the street centerline; offenses within about 30 meters of the outline are counted here, which means an offense on a street shared by two neighborhoods counts toward both. Raleigh Police withholds the location of most sexual offenses: about two thirds of the last year’s sex offenses (every forcible rape, sodomy, fondling, statutory rape and incest report) and every child-abuse report (aggravated and simple) and every obscene-material report carry no location in the public data, so they cannot be placed near an address. Counts here include only offenses with a location and understate violent crime. Campus police (NC State, Meredith, William Peace, Shaw, St. Augustine’s, Wake Tech) and other agencies police their own property and are not in this feed.
