West Highland Crime Map & Reported Offense Data

Crimes cover the West Highland neighborhood (the boundary outlined on the map), over the last 12 months. Traffic crashes are counted within roughly a half-mile of the center. Crime is compared per resident (rate), so a large, busy area can have a high total but a lower rate; crash counts are compared to the average Denver neighborhood. Source: City and County of Denver open data. The Denver Police Department’s public crime data publishes no location for domestic-violence offenses or sex offenses, so they never appear on the map or in these counts: about a third of aggravated assaults and every sexual assault are missing, so located counts understate violent crime near any address, and simple-assault and harassment totals are incomplete. Incidents handled by campus police (University of Denver, Auraria Campus) may not appear. Denver’s crash records count only serious injuries and fatalities; minor injuries are not published, and about 5% of crash records have no location. About 1 in 8 crash records (a third of hit-and-runs) carry no injury counts at all and are not included in the serious-injury figure, so it is a minimum. Open data updates on a delay, so the most recent records may be incomplete. For general information only — not legal, financial, or real-estate advice.
