About Pullman

Pullman is a community area on Chicago's Far South Side, bounded by 103rd Street to the north, 115th Street to the south, Cottage Grove Avenue and the Calumet Expressway to the east, and the railroad tracks to the west. The neighborhood is best known for the Pullman Historic District, a planned company town built in the 1880s by George Pullman for workers of the Pullman Palace Car Company. In 2015, the Pullman District was designated as a National Monument, later becoming Pullman National Historical Park.

The Pullman Historic District features distinctive rowhouses, the Hotel Florence, the Greenstone Church, and the restored Pullman Factory complex. Outside the historic district, the broader community area includes a mix of bungalows, two-flats, and ranch-style homes.
