About Avondale

Avondale is a community area on Chicago's Northwest Side, bounded by Addison Street to the north, Diversey Avenue to the south, the Kennedy Expressway to the east, and Pulaski Road and the Milwaukee District North Line to the west. The neighborhood has roots as a Polish-American community, anchored by the landmark St. Hyacinth Basilica, one of only three basilicas in Chicago.

In recent years, Avondale has emerged as one of the city's most dynamic neighborhoods, with new restaurants, breweries, and creative businesses opening along its Milwaukee Avenue and Belmont Avenue corridors. The neighborhood's housing stock features a mix of brick bungalows, two-flats, and greystones, many of which are undergoing renovation. Its location between Logan Square and Irving Park, with Blue Line access at Belmont and Addison, has made it increasingly attractive to young professionals and families.
