Search Optimist ParkCrimes cover the Optimist Park neighborhood (the boundary outlined on the map), over the last 12 months. Crime is compared per resident (rate), so a large, busy area can have a high total but an average or below-average rate (with fewer than 5,000 residents, the per-resident rate swings widely and also counts incidents involving people who don't live here); violation counts are compared to the average Charlotte neighborhood. Source: City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County open data. CMPD’s public incident data lists one offense per incident (the most serious) and places each at the 100-block level. Some reports are placed where the officer took the report rather than where the offense happened (about 1 in 6 rape and fondling reports and 1 in 20 robberies and aggravated assaults in 2025–26), so a count near any one block can run low, and reports filed at a police station or hospital address can make a count there run high (CMPD headquarters at 600 E Trade St alone accounts for about 220 counted incidents a year). UNC Charlotte and Johnson C. Smith University are policed by campus police and are not covered by this feed, and Matthews, Mint Hill, Pineville, Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson have their own police departments.
